The cable shipped promptly and arrived in good order. Worked as designed with little unnecessary setup.
No direcions, but I had it working in about ten minutes. Just make sure you have a older computer to use with a serial port, or you have to buy a cable to fit to this one that plugs into a hsb port. I bought this to go with my Garmin E-Trax H that I bought at Amazon. I can download my waypoints very easily.
Had no problems using this on my macbook with geocaching.com using a generic USB to Serial adapter. Cable is high quality, fit is snug with my eTrex Summit.
I heartily recommend this cable. New firmware work good. Me move new firmware from computer to eTrex. I'm not worried about it falling apart. In the spirit of another review I read on Amazon recently, I'm going to make this as succinct as possible:"Me buy this cable. Me plug cable into computer and eTrex. Me happy."It's cheap but of good quality.
Taken together, the two cables are rather bulky - a straight Garmin-to-USB cable would be a preferable alternative, but that doesn't exist, so with that mild reservation, I'm happy. I bought this cable along with a "USB to Serial DB9 (RS232) Adapter Cable (Garmin compatible)" from the same seller, Navsphere, to use with an Etrex and a very nice Mac app called GPSNavX. Navsphere was quick and fuss-free to deal with, so the whole experience has been positive.
